This was sent out to our coaches, from Director of Coaching and Club Vice-president Paul Gruber:
I just wanted to express my excitement to my fellow coaches in what is occurring in the Carlisle Soccer Club. Keep in mind my involvement with the club only goes back to November of 2006. In this time our club has progressed in leaps and bounds overcoming obstacles that a typical organization may have succumbed to.
Fact: It was less than two years ago that we started playing out at the Carlisle Soccer Complex. One of our field days was pulling weed stumps with pliers. Now we have a third of the complex looking like a million bucks, another third that was just recently professionally developed with plans on finishing the final third within the next year or two.
As for our teams, we’re improving just as quickly. It was just last year, spring of 2007, when our club joined the U10 coalition with two boys’ and on girls’ team. We also had three U12 teams, (2 girls’ and 1 boys’) and a coed U14 team that travelled. During that season, every team struggled to win a single match. A year later, we have a successful U10 program that continues developing and two U12 teams that are in contention of winning their divisions of play with records of 6-2-0 and 6-1-1, with a third U12 team of boys that almost finished with a 0.500 season. (That’s from a team that has never won a game, ever.)
The progression from where we were just 12 months ago is mind blowing! I thought this story was worth mentioning, especially for those of you that are new to your club. For those of you that have been around for the last couple of years, it’s a neat reflection of how far we’ve come in such short time.
