Spring Season Update

Spring 2014 Season Update and Information

It’s hard to believe with snow on the ground and more in the forecast that it is time to start talking about the Spring soccer season.

As we are getting ready for spring season, I wanted to provide an update on some important dates and other housekeeping items.

Team Rosters

Team rosters will be distributed to coaches and posted on the website on March 2.  Please note that we are still looking for coaches for U10 girls, U10 boys and U12 boys.  If you can help in any way, please contact me as soon as possible.

Opening Weekend

First weekend of games is April 5/6

Picture Day

Pictures will be Saturday, April 12.  The schedule for pictures will be posted in mid-March.

Game Schedules

U6 and U8 schedules will be posted mid-March

U8 Travel, U10 and U12-U14 schedules will be posted when we receive them from the league.

Uniforms can be purchased from Soccer Connections at 3233 100th St  Urbandale, IA 50322, (515) 270-8141.  If you have not ordered your uniform yet, we recommend that you order ASAP to ensure delivery before the first game.

U6 & U8 players use the red/white reversible jersey, red shorts and red socks.  Note that we do not use numbers on jerseys at this age.

U10 and above players use the red/yellow striped jerseys, black shorts, and red socks.

Other Equipment

In addition to the uniform, please remember that shin guards are required at all practices and games and are worn under the socks.  Soccer cleats only: baseball and softball cleats have spikes on the toe, which are not allowed in soccer.

All players will need a soccer ball that they can bring to practice.  Depending on age, a different size ball is used.  U6 and U8 use a size 3 ball.  U10 and U12 use a size 4 ball.  U14 and above use a size 5 ball.

Soccer Complex Work Day

We will be having our Field work day on Saturday, March 22.  Please consider coming out on the Field Day to help get the complex ready for the Spring season.  We are a volunteer run organization and we rely on your help to keep things running.  We will update with more information closer to the work day

Coerver Iowa Camp Registration Form

Register by May 1 to get the early registration discount.

Coerver Coaching is a world-renowned coaching system that is in use at all levels of play in 15 countries around the world.  We are fortunate to have two of our own coaches who are the Directors of Coerver Iowa, Eric Birkenholtz and Ken Sadler, both of whom will be helping run the camps this summer.

We highly recommend these camps for any club players looking for training opportunities this summer.  The Coerver system and methodology are the foundation for the Carlisle Soccer Club’s player development system.  The goals are simple:

  • Develop skilled, confident and creative players
  • Make the game fun to practice and play
  • Teach good sportsmanship and respect for all
  • Value winning but not more than character and performance

If you have any questions regarding the camps or the Coerver system, feel free to contact Eric Birkenholtz,
