The goal of the project was to introduce young kids to soccer, get them to sign up for soccer with the Carlisle Soccer Club which in turn would help increase funds for the club to help improve field conditions. The failure of the well pump late last summer slowed progress and the girls wanted to help raise money toward the replacement.

"The Club needs funds to pay for a costly irrigation system to keep the grass growing," Taylor wrote in her letter to camp leader and former U.S. women’s national team member Julie Foudy.

The girls and their friends from the Crazy Kickers and the Carlise Crush held an indoor soccer clinic for kids ages 4 to 6 years old. All participants received a soccer ball and a "Krazy Crush Clinic" t-shirt. The 35 kids were formed into groups of 8-10 players where they went through several activities such as "Red Light Green Light," "Ghostbusters," "Tail Chase" and many others. Each activity included elements with the soccer ball and some without a ball.

"We taught the kids what part of the foot to dribble with and how to shield the ball," Taylor wrote to Foudy. "The kids had a blast!"
The clinic organizers had registration for spring soccer and information about our club available and several kids registered. The board of directors was so impressed, it’s considering making this an annual event. Besides the core group, other Carlisle soccer players helped with the clinic, including: Emma Staecker, Madison Staecker, Johanna Haack, Mariah Sadler, Jonathan Kamerick, Kyle Whipple and several parent helpers.

This Sunday, the Carlisle Soccer Club raised the roof of the Carlisle Elementary School Rec Center. Dozens of teams learned that playing soccer on a gym floor is a whole different game than the outdoor version, but they started demonstrating some great ball skills and the enthusiasm Carlisle is known for! And parents and families cheered them on in with enthusiasm THEY are known for, too.

Games will be played on Sunday afternoons, through early March.

See the schedule here. Oh yeah, in case you haven’t seen them, here are the rules for Carlisle Soccer Indoors.

Come on our next Sunday afternoon and cheer our teams on. Bring noisemakers, make signs and have some fun already!

it’s just about time to begin the inagural indoor soccer season in Carlisle!Registrations are in and team rosters and schedules will be sent out Tuesday, January 5th.

With Ken Sadler and Paul Gruber heading up the indoor season, our goal is to have A LOT of fun and learn soccer along the way. When we say fun….we include the parents, there will be oportunities for the parents to get involved in helping to create a wonderful soccer environment for our kids to play in.

Games will begin Jan. 10th and will be played Sundays in the newer Carlisle Elementary gym, also called the Rec Center for Carlisle schools, from 1 PM - 5 PM. Games will be played in one 30 minute half and there will be a very limited number of subs, so play time will be excellent.

Players should receive their free t-shirt Jan. 10th. at the first game. We’ll use bibs to seperate the teams during games. Please have your player wear socks pulled over their shin guards and any color athletic-type shorts or pants will work. Your player must also wear either indoor soccer shoes or tennis shoes to play. Safety will be watched closely to make this a great experience.

We will be hosting free practice sessions starting next week. Your player is encouraged to attend the sessions, but they are not mandatory for the indoor season. However, attending at least the first session would be very beneficial to your player, as the rules to Indoor Soccer are a little different than what they may be use to. We will be organizing a practice calendar that will eventually be posted on the web site for easy viewing. Practice sessions will be as follows:

Ages 6 -8 Tuesdays Girls & Boys 6-7 PM
Ages 9-11 Thursdays Girls 6-7 PM Boys 7-8 PM
Ages 12-14 Fridays Boys 6-7 PM Girls 7-8 PM
Ages 15-19 Mondays Girls 6-7 PM Boys 7-8 PM
(updated 1/6/10)

Watch your email for more information to come. If you have any questions please call either Ken sadler (515) 321-6221 or Paul Gruber (515) 491-2446.

Grant funds will help the Club upgrade its irrigation system with a new electric motor, pump and future underground irrigation system.

"We’re excited to have been awarded this grant," says Lisa Wilson, Carlisle Soccer Club director of development. "We’re getting ready to take a huge step toward improving our fields and this grant is a great first step toward an investment in our Club and in soccer in Carlisle.

The Club will soon purchase an electric motor to replace the gas-powered engine that failed last July, pay for supplies to run electrical service to the motor and a new pump that will eventually supply in-ground irrigation. A lot of the labor for the project will be done by volunteers and through in-kind donations of service.

The Warren County Philanthropic Partnership was organized to promote and enhance community based philanthropy in Warren County. The Warren Count Philanthropic Partnership recently received a state award to facilitate endowment building and grant making.

The contribution to the foundation was made possible by the Iowa General Assembly. In 2004 the Iowa legislature passed several bills to encourage foundation building and community based philanthropy.

Among these measures was H.F. 2032 which provided that non-gambling counties, initiating a county-wide community foundation would be eligible to receive on half of one percent of the stat’s gross gambling tax receipts.

Eighteen grant applications were received and eleven organizations across Warren County shared in the funding allocations.

To meet demand for additional winter soccer in Carlisle, the Carlisle Soccer Club will sponsor an eight-week indoor soccer league this winter. The league will be administered by Ken Sadler, Paul Gruber, and a committee of volunteers committed to the long-term improvement of soccer in the community. High school soccer players will also coach and referee games under the supervision of trained coaches and referees.

Ninety percent of the profits from the registration will be donated to support both the boys and girls high school soccer programs and 10 percent will support soccer scholarships for the Carlisle Soccer Club.

"The coaches and volunteers that have organized this league see this as a great way to complete the circle between the Club and the high school programs," says Ken Sadler, a long-time Carlisle soccer supporter and national C licensed coach. "The players who started with the Club when it was re-formed in 2004 are now the foundation for the high school program, so it makes perfect sense to build those ties while providing more soccer opportunities to the younger ages."

Indoor soccer is a fast-paced style of soccer that encourages ball control and technique over physical play. With limited space and constant pressure, players will learn to think and react quickly.

The league will run Sunday afternoons from January 10th through February 28, with games played in the Elementary School Rec Center. All teams will be coed. Players register as individuals and will be placed onto competitively balanced teams. The cost is $35 for the eight-week session, which includes eight games and a free t-shirt.

You can download the registration form here, fill it out and mail it in with your check made out to the Carlisle Soccer Club to Carlisle Soccer Club, c/o Indoor soccer, PO Box 254, Carlisle, IA 50047. The deadline for registration is December 22nd.

For more information, contact Ken Sadler at 515-321-6221 or Paul Gruber at 515-491-2446.
