Keep On Learning

Once you’ve become a certified referee, you have to re-certify annually to maintain the right to officiate soccer games. There are three ways to do this: 1.) pass an online rules test, 2.) attend a four-hour re certification class and successfully pass the written rules test at the end (usually in the late fall) or 3.) attend four meetings of your local soccer officials association. In central Iowa, that’s the Mid-Iowa Soccer Officials Association (MISOA). Attending meetings is a lot easier than passing the online test and it’s a lot more flexible than trying to make it to one of the re-certification clinics. The best reason to go to meetings, however, is the opportunity to learn from other officials, ask questions and get connected to other refs you may meet at tournaments and games outside of Carlisle. If you’d like to go to a MISOA meeting, contact another Carlisle ref and make a carpool out of it!

Learn more about MISOA at the website.
